South West School of Plastering was set up by Bob Weekes, his wife Sheila and his brother Geoff, near Taunton in Somerset.
Bob had been an engineer all his life, but after serious illness, he was told he couldn’t go back to that trade. Determined to start again, Bob learnt the plastering trade. He loved the skill so much, that he decided he wanted to help others learn it too – and so South West School of Plastering was created.
Bob’s aim is to provide workers in the construction industry with proper training, so they can work safely and to a high standard.
South West School of Plastering opened in March 2005 and its success keeps on growing. In late 2008 the same team of Directors are going to expand, and will offer a range of construction courses, at a purpose built training centre. South West School of Plastering will become a part of this training centre.
As Bob says, “There are too many people in construction who are not adequately trained for what they do. We want to make sure that they have the relevant training and qualifications they need to get work now and in the future. Therefore, we ensure that our students are working to the highest standards possible.”
